Having personally experienced the transformative power of therapy during challenging times, Karen understands firsthand how finding the right support can bring healing and hope. This personal journey inspired her passion about helping couples navigate overwhelming seasons, rebuild fractured connections, and find renewed strength in their partnerships.
Whilst Karen holds a Master of Counselling, she has augmented her clinical expertise with a specialised qualification in Gottman Couples Therapy—a highly regarded, evidence-based approach to relationship health. While her primary focus is on couples work, Karen also draws upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help partners manage individual challenges that frequently impact relationship dynamics.
Prior to embarking on her counselling path, Karen graduated with a Bachelor (Honours) of Business and spent 25 years in senior leadership roles within multinational corporations. This extensive corporate background gives her a unique, empathetic perspective on the immense pressures faced by professionals and dual-career couples. She intimately understands how the struggle to juggle high-stakes careers, family obligations, and personal well-being can place significant strain on a marriage, and she actively helps couples navigate and overcome these modern complexities.
Through her clinical experience working with local organisations, Karen has engaged with clients across all life stages—from partners navigating the early years of commitment to those managing mid-life transitions, growing pains with teenagers, and empty-nesting. Her counselling approach is fundamentally grounded in active listening, deep empathy, and the creation of a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel truly heard, validated, and empowered.
Warm, relatable, and grounded in real-life experience, Karen has been happily married for 28 years and is a mother to a 22-year-old daughter. She knows firsthand the dedication required to sustain a long-term partnership and brings this realistic, hopeful outlook to her clients. Outside of her professional endeavours, Karen finds balance and joy in taking long walks, practicing qigong, and indulging in her favourite K-dramas.
